Endure

“The page became wet when I wrote this one – it was a time of tears and troubles. But by the time I had penned the last line the world seemed brighter and challenging once again. ”

The road is hard, the way is long,
Is this the world where I belong?
Or is there on some distant shore
Some other place I’m longing for?
Some other place to call my own
Some distant realm to call my home.
The twinkling stars that shine at night
Call up my thoughts to instant flight
To distant worlds and higher dreams
Away from this earth’s baser schemes.
Away on high through starry sky
Past moons and planets, rushing by.
To float in peace and calm of space
Released to flee this hectic pace.
Warm and secure in my Father’s love.
    Away to Kalab far above.
But no, the time has not yet come
So many things as yet undone.
So many things for me to do
To prove my worth, to see it through.
So starry dreams must wait their turn,
For my reward I have to earn.
I have to walk this rocky way
    To make the most of each new day;
And with the guidance of His plan,
I’ll cling to Him, and then I can.
